"Renewable" Gas is more expensive than Fossil Gas
Renewable natural gas (RNG) is often hailed as a panacea for climate worries: an ostensibly climate-friendly fuel that can be used with the same piped distribution network, same meters, same appliances, with no sacrifices. In truth, RNG is an expensive fuel with limited supply that’s not actually clean and will continue to require significant infrastructure investment. For all but a handful of hard-to-decarbonize uses, electrification is a more cost-effective, cleaner option.
