Electrifying 1,000 Canberra homes

Canberra is taking the next big step.

Go Electric Canberra is a community-led project helping 1,000 households make the switch to efficient electric living.
‍
The project is designed to test how electrification can work across different types of homes, household circumstances and energy needs — and create a model that other communities can use.
‍
Participating households will receive subsidies covering around a quarter of the cost of key upgrades.

Support is tiered so households with the least capacity to pay get the most help

Eligible homes

Most eligible homes will receive:

20% installation rebate

plus concessional finance may be available at 3% on the first $20,000 of works

Concession card holders

Eligible concession card holders may be able to access

0% interest rate on the first $10,000

Plus a rebate on selected electrification products

Financial hardship

Households in severe financial hardship may be eligible to:

At the heart of Go Electric is the community. Electrify Canberra will lead recruitment and engagement, building on years of local grassroots work and trusted relationships.

The goal is to ensure all households can take part, whether they own their home or rent, have a high or low income, or are just starting to think about electrification.

The tools, technology and approaches developed through the project - including the CQF 2.0 platform and Installer Marketplace - are designed to be repeatable and scalable.

What we learn in Canberra can help communities, governments and energy providers across Australia make the transition easier, faster and more affordable.
